~~The King, Michael Jackson~~

OK THERE ARE NO WORDS RIGHT NOW THAT CAN EXPRESS HOW I FEEL ABOUT THE PASSING OF MJ. DID I PERSONALLY KNOW HIM? NO BUT HE HAS BEEN A PRESENCE IN MY LIF SINCE BIRTH. I GREW UP WITH HIS MUSIC. I WAS THE LITTLE YOUNG BLACK GIRL WALKING AROUND WITH THE MJ CURLY KIT AND HIGHWATER PANTS. I HAD THE PLEATHER RED AND BLACK THRILLER JACKET AND THE SHINY SOCKS. THE MJ DOLL. I BET A LOT OF YOU DON'T EVEN REMEMBER THAT. I HAD TO MAKE A BOOTLEG GLOVE WITH GLITTER AND GLUE BECAUSE MY MOM HAD IT UP TO HER NECK WITH ME AND MY MJ OBESSION AS A CHILD. I WILL NEVER FORGET THE DAY MY MOONWALKER VHS GOT ATE UP BY THE VCR! OOOH WEEE I CRIED, I CRIED I CRIED. BUT THANKS TO A CRACKHEAD UNCLE OF MINE, I HAD ANOTHER ONE IN NO TIME. (YES I HAD TO PUT MY UNNAMED UNCLE ON BLAST SO YOU CAN GET THE COMPLETE FEEL OF MY MEMORIES)

IT WAS JUST SOMETHING ABOUT MJ THAT MADE ME EXCITED WHENEVER I SAW HIM ON TV OR HEARD ANY OF HIS SONGS PLAYING. HE HAD THIS MAGIC THAT WAS UNEXPLAINABLE. AS I GREW, MJ CHANGED AND I ALWAYS WONDERED WHAT WAS GOING ON INSIDE OF HIM. THE MEDIA, OH MAN WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT THE MEDIA, THEY WHERE LIKE HOT AND COLD WITH HIM. WHEN HE WAS GOOD, HE WAS GOOD AND NOT EVEN THE CRITICS COULD DENY THAT. BUT WHEN THERE WAS ANY HINT OF TROUBLE, THE MEDIA TOOK HIM A ND RIPPED HIM TO PIECES! EVEN SOME OF HIS SO CALLED FANS TURNED ON HIM AS HIS PHYSICAL APPEARANCE STARTED CHANGING.

HE BECAME THE BUTT OF MOST COMEDIAN JOKES AND PEOPLE STARTED TO GIGGLE AT THE MERE MENTION OF HIS NAME. DID THEY FORGET THAT THIS WAS THE MAN THAT MADE HISTORY FOR OTHER BLACK ARTIST TO FOLLOW IN HIS FOOTSTEPS? DID THEY FORGET THAT THIS WAS THE MAN THAT WAS THE ULTIMATE HUMANITARIAN? THIS MAN HAS CONTRIBUTED TO OVER 35 CHARITIES WORDLWIDE, NOT JUST HERE IN THE US BUT ALL OVER THE WORLD, THE BULK OF WHICH HELPED AFRICANS AND AFRICAN AMERICANS? DID ANY OF THESE PEOPLE EVEN LISTEN TO THE LYRICS TO HIS SONGS, HEAL THE WORLD, EARTH SONG, CRY? DID THESE PEOPLE UNDERSTAND WHAT HE YEARNED FOR? WHAT HE FELT HE NEEDED AND KNEW HE COULD NEVER GET BACK BUT TRIED SO HARD TO ANYWAY?

IT BREAKS MY HEART WHEN THE OBVIOUS IS SO IN YOUR FACE BUT YET AND STILL PEOPLE IGNORE THAT AND MAKE YOU INTO A MONSTER, A JOKE. THATS WHAT THE MEDIA AND SOME SO CALLED FANS DID TO MJ. NOW THAT HIS LIFE IS NO MORE, THEY ARE STILL FINDING AWAY TO SHINE A LIGHT ON EVERYTHING NEGATIVE INSTEAD OF SHOWING RESPECT FOR THIS GREAT MAN THAT PAVED A WAY FOR SO MANY. THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAS LIVED THEIR LIVES IN THE PUBLIC EYE AND HAVE PASSED ON AND SLOWLY LEFT THE MEMORIES OF PEOPLES MINDS. MICHAEL JACKSON WAS AN INNOVATOR, A TRENDSETTER, AN INSPIRATION, AN EXAMPLE OF HOW TO HELP AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER. MICHAEL JACKSON HAS PLACED A PERMANENT MARK ON HISTORY THAT WILL NEVER EVER BE FORGOTTEN EVEN OF PEOPLE TRIED.

I LOOKED FORWARD TO MJ'S COMEBACK. UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME, I WILL NEVER SEE IT. FORTUNATELY FOR MJ, HE NO LONGER HAS TO SUFFER ANYMORE PAIN. I PRAY THAT HE IS IN A BETTER PLACE AND HAS FINALLY FOUND PEACE WITHIN HIS SOUL. I LOVE YOU MJ, THANK YOU FOR ALL THE GOOD MEMORIES THAT I HAVE BECAUSE OF YOUR MUSIC.

~0.o~Breaking Point~o.0~

Urrrrrrrrgggggghh!!!!! Today is turning out to be a very stressfulmotional day. Yes
I said stressful and emotional together. So What! I feel like I'm almost reaching my breaking point. Thank God I have people and things that help keep me from losing myself when I seem to lose my grip. Anyways, between issues at work and issues in my relationship, I feel like I'm about to pull my weave out! Oh wait no, weave cost too much, lol. So here's the deal, this is one of those days at work where everyone, their mama, and their little dog too wants me to do them a favor and make stuff happen like i'm a friggin magician!! My name is not Uncle Magic, who is great by the way, or David Copperfield! WTF Grrrrrrrr!!! My relationship is a whole other story! Lets just say this, If love is a battlefield, I'm at war!!! Geesh! Relationships are work! If you really want them to work, you must be willing to do things necessary for both of you to maintain a level of peace and happiness. Realistically, no one will ever have a fuss free, stress free relationship! EVER! If they tell you they do, they are lying or living in a fantasy world. All I know is this, I'm willing to walk thru the fire for mine. Are you?

King Hedley II by Playwright August Wilson

OK so, for my drama class this semester, I was given a monologue to do from the August Wilson Play King Hedley II. I've always heard of Mr. Wilson's plays but never had the opportunity to take on one of the roles. The monologue is Tonya, King's wife, explaining to King why she does not want to keep their baby that she is pregnant with. This piece is so compelling and so real. Almost every reason she states, are reasons why today, I don't want to have anymore children. The state of this world, our communities are at disarray. Why would anyone want to have a child these days aside from selfish reasons. ........"you have to fight to keep them alive!" I love my daughter and I do the best I can possibly do for her but did I think about all she has to face as she grows up before I had her? NO. Did I consider the fact that these days you have parents who don't teach there children right from wrong or lead by good example and therefore you have preschool age children bringing drugs and weapons to school? NO. Did I even make sure I was in a good position financially and educationally before I gave birth to her? NO. So many of us, make decisions without full thought that does not just affect us but our loved ones too. I do not for one second want any of you to think or believe that I regret having my child. She is my world. I just wish I was in a different mind set before I made the choice to lay down and make her. This play, this monologue, sparked so many emotions inside of me. For any of you that has had the chance to ever see this play, please let me know your view on it. For those of you that have no idea what I'm talking about, google it and buy it.

Welcome!!!
